Frank Wadleigh, 90, passed away on October 21st, 2017, at the Village of Cedar Hill surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 17, 1926 in Claremont, NH; the son of Frank E. and Ruth (Perry) Wadleigh. He spent his entire life in Claremont; his last year was at Cedar Hill in Windsor, VT.
Frank worked in the family market, Wadleigh’s Market, for many years. He also worked at Howe Motors for 25 years. He was an avid skier and had a season’s pass at Sunapee until he was 80. Summers were spent at their camp on Lake Ossipee where he enjoyed many walks, family gatherings, and time spent with the grandchildren on boat rides around the lake.
Frank was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Jean; his parents; a brother, Malcolm Wadleigh; and a sister, Doris Nelson.
He is survived by his daughters Andrea (Gary) Burke of Brownsville, and Susan Matteson of Windsor, VT, five grandchildren: Kirk Lantas, Brent Lantas, Katie Willard, Emily Matteson-Weld, and Molly Matteson, as well as eight great-grandchildren: Kori Massucci, Lane Lantas, Jack and Clare Willard, Alden and Nolan Weld, and Matteson and Hannah Tenney, a sister-in-law, Ramona Wadleigh, and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Cedar Hill and DHMC for their compassionate care. The family requests that you share a kindness in his memory with someone in need.
Services will be held on Wednesday, October 25th, at Stringer Funeral Home in Claremont. Calling hours will be held at 10:00 with a celebration of his life at 11:00. Burial at the Union Cemetery will follow the service.
