Eleanor B. Parmelee, 99, died on August 2, 2016, just five days shy of her 100th birthday. She was born in Claremont, NH, on August 7, 1916, the daughter of Edward and Elsie (Benjamin) Burke. Eleanor was a 1934 graduate of Stevens High School. She married her husband, Roy B. Parmelee on September 16, 1939; he died on June 15, 1984. She was a member of the Methodist Church, Woodmen Chapter #26 OES Post Master, PM & AP Association and the LUAS. Eleanor got her nursing training at the Nashua Memorial Hospital in 1938. She had worked at the Claremont General Hospital and then at VNA for many years. She was a secretary at the Towles Home until she retired in 1978. She is survived by a goddaughter, Nancy Ciardelli of Burlington, VT, and good friend, Doris Foster of Charlestown. She was predeceased by her parents and husband. Visiting hours will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home in Claremont on Friday, August 5th, from 1 to 2 PM. Funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home at 2 PM with Priscilla Hull officiating. Burial will follow in the West Claremont Burying Ground.
