He was born on December 4, 1947.
Don was Claremont, NH’s Swimmer and Top Diving Star from 1955-1965.
He earned the Commendation Medal for Exceptional Achievement in the Republic of Vietnam and continued earning Certificates of Appreciation throughout his military career. He served in the US Army from 1966-1978.
Don retired from the Veterans Hospital in White River Junction, VT, as a Certified Registered Medical Supply Technician. Each year he received outstanding performance awards until his retirement in 1991.
After retiring from the Veterans Hospital, Don went to work for the Pepsi plant until 1998, he retired with 100% service connected disability that same year.
Don enjoyed working around the house and yard work. His favorite saying was “clean as you go” and his favorite TV shows were “Let’s Make A Deal” and “Family Feud”. His favorite pastime was playing solitaire.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Family was most important to him.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of 47 year; sons, Chad Boardman and Don Ouellette; daughter, Missy Raymond and her husband, Stephen Raymond II; four granddaughters, Gabrielle Lauschance and her husband, Ethan, Megan Boardman, Alyssa Boardman and Eden Boardman; three grandsons, Peter Raymond, Stevie Raymond III and Robbie Raymond; two brothers, Harvey Gilbert and his wife, Diana and Ron Boardman and his companion, Dianne Shattuck.
Don was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Hoyt and his stepfather, Arthur Hoyt; a sister, Diana Boardman and two brothers, Larry Boardman and Daniel Boardman.
Don will be forever missed and loved, he will be in our hearts always.
Visiting hours will be held at Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Monday, March 19th from 6 to 8 PM.
Funeral service will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 20th at 11 AM with Donna Leslie officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
