Daniel D. Merrill, 73, of Charlestown, NH, died unexpectedly on Saturday (Dec. 5, 2020).
He was born in Springfield, VT, on June 24, 1947, the son of Stanley T. and Alice (Holden) Merrill and had been a lifetime area resident. Daniel was employed as a machine operator by Tambrands in Claremont, NH, for more than 35 years. Although they have been together for 30 years, he married the former Marjorie “Midge” (Blewitt) Decoteau in August of 2004 in Las Vegas, NV. He enjoyed working on cars, gambling, hunting, the Red Sox, spending time with his family and attending storage unit auctions.
Members of his family include his wife, “Midge” Merrill, Charlestown, NH; sons, Scott Merrill, Windsor, VT; Joey Decoteau and his wife, Christine, Stamford, CT; daughters, April Coull, Charlestown, NH; Tressa Heinen and her husband, Craig, Charleston, SC; Julie Ploof and her husband, Mike, Weare, NH; Debbie Chase and her husband, Leroy, Windsor, VT; Amy Root and her husband, Chris, Windsor, VT; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, a brother, Gary Merrill and his wife, Sandi, Charlestown, NH, a sister, Sandy Hosking and her husband, John, Charlestown, NH and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, a son, Dan Merrill and two brothers, Teddy Merrill and Ronald Merrill. There will be no visiting hours or services at this time. A celebration of Daniel’s life will be held in the spring of 2021.
