CLAREMONT, NH–The Claremont Parks and Recreation Department has announced the date for their 2017 indoor triathlon: Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Claremont Savings Bank Community Center. This indoor “Sprint” Triathlon is a great way for a beginner to try out the sport and for the expert who is getting ready for a spring race. This event will start at 8:30 a.m. “If we meet our maximum capacity for athletes participating at one time, we will have separate heats and participants will be notified one week in advance of their exact start time,” said Mark Brislin, Director of the Parks and Rec Department. All legs of this event will be timed and they will count the total number of laps or distance completed for each event. As in a traditional triathlon, this event will start with the swim portion. This portion of the race will be for 15 minutes. Racers will then have a 10 minute transition before getting on the bike. The bike portion of the race will be on the spinning bikes for 30 minutes. Racers will then have a 5 minute transition before entering the indoor track and running for 20 minutes. “This triathlon is designed to accommodate everyone from the first time triathlete to a veteran racer,” explained Mark Brislin, Director of the Claremont Parks and Recreation Department. “Winter months can be a hard time for training. This is a great opportunity to get off of your treadmill and indoor trainer and to test your fitness level,” added Brislin.
