Charles D. Banta, Sr., 82, of Unity Stage Road in Charlestown, NH, died Monday (March 20, 2017) at his home following a period of failing health.
He was born in Bridgeport, CT, on November 10, 1934, the son of William and Louise (Tolster) Banta. Charles was a veteran of the US Army. He had been employed as a foreman with Bridgeport Steel in Milford, CT. On June 19, 1954 he married the former Ruth (Mack) Banta; she predeceased him on September 13, 2008.
Members of his family include a son, Charles D. Banta, Jr., Claremont, NH; four daughters, Dolores Ann Sweeney, East Haven, CT; Diana June Henderson, Charlestown, NH; Debra Sherman, Waverly, NY; Dawn Emmerich, Middletown, CT, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, William Banta, Ralph H. Banta, two sisters, Doris Goodwin, Vivian Monsanto.
Friends may call at the Roy Funeral Home, 93 Sullivan Street, Claremont, NH on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. A brief service will be held at 2:00 pm.
Graveside committal services will be held later in the spring in Pine Crest Cemetery in Charlestown, NH.
