He was a life-long resident of Claremont, graduating from Stevens High School and later from New Hampshire Technical Institute in Manchester. His career was spent with Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory in Hanover working in the Polar Science and Engineering branch, helping in the research, testing, and development of solutions to problems facing the Army, DOD, and USA. Two of the highlights for Carl was visiting Antarctica and being a recovery diver of a plane crash in the Potomac River in 1982. On his own time, Carl enjoyed traveling, skiing, camping, fishing, photography, and playing darts.
His wife, Christine L. Martinson, whom he married Nov. 2, 1972, predeceased him as well as his brother, Maurice (Rusty) Martinson.
He is survived by his son, Eric Martinson and his wife, Lisa; his daughter Erin Maynard and her husband, John; four grandchildren, Dominique Maynard, and Josiah, Izaiah, and Noah Martinson; his brother, Thomas Martinson; nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing hours at Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on March 24 from 12 – 2 with a prayer service immediately following. Burial will be in the spring in St. Mary Cemetery in Claremont, NH.
