Brian Paavo Kangas, born July 16, 1955, to the late Paavo Kalevi Kangas and the late Frances Gilberte Kangas (Bourgeois), passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Elliot Hospice Center in Manchester, NH. A big thank you to all at the center for their kindness. Brian had a quaduple bypass 2 1/2 years ago and later, Lewy Body Dementia. He worked for his dad’s shop, Claremont Auto Body, till closing, then for the new owner for two years thereafter. After that, he worked for Tambrands for seven years. Finally, he worked for Hartford Eichenauer for 22 years before the doctors said no more.
He loved his place on Mountain View Lake, which all who came loved it too. He loved to ice fish, fish, go four-wheeling and scratch tickets. The best was the 4th of July on the 3rd of July. He put on a great show every year. His neighbors, Ed and Barbara Roberts, gave away free hot dogs, chips and soda. It was a great show. Brian’s parents also owned a huge home on Summer Street, where he was duly noted for his 1973 Roadrunner, his favorite toy.
He was predeceased by his older brother, Jeffrey. He took care of his parents till they needed more than he could do. They both had Alzheimer’s, and Dad had prostate cancer.
Brian was kind to all and would help in any way he could.
He leaves behind his love and best friend, Joyce Sharkey, who he cared very much for. Also, his many friends, who always made him smile, including “The Wanderer” of Newport and Margot McCarthy of Springfield, NH; also his favorite P-2, his eight-year-old Maine coon kitty, whom he raised since three weeks old.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
