Bertha A. Lamarre, 94, formerly of 42nd Street in Claremont, NH, died Thursday (March 19, 2020) at Sullivan County Healthcare following a period of failing health. She was born in Fall River, MA, on April 2, 1925, the daughter of William and Lydia (Richard) Dufresne and had been a longtime Claremont resident. Bertha had been employed at Sylvania Corp. and later worked with her sister at Yvette’s Petite Shop. She then owned and operated her own store the Bridal Shoppe in Claremont. She was the widow of Rene Lamarre who died on December 29, 1999.
Members of her family include three daughters, Linda Scranton and her husband, Butch, Hampton, NH; Cheryl Gonyea and her husband, Michael, Newport, NH; Joann Moulton, Newport, NH; six grandchildren, Erica Sheldrick, Tami McNamara, Angie Moulton, Todd Scranton, Telly Moulton, George Catsam, 10 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Paul Dufresne and four sisters, Irene Adamovich, Doris Hipwell, Yvette Dion and Yvonne Dufresne.
There will be no visiting hours. Graveside Services will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery with the Rev. Arockia Antony, officiating. A Celebration of Bertha’s life will be held at a later date.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contribution be made to Sullivan County Healthcare, Patient Activity Fund, 5 Nursing Home Drive, Claremont, NH 03743.
