Armand Henry “Jim” LaRoche, 84, of Claremont, NH, died peacefully at Valley Regional Hospital on Febuary 9th after a brief illness.
Armand was born in St. Hyacinthe, P.Q. Canada, the son of Donat P. and Roseanna (St. Germain) LaRoche. He and his family moved to Claremont, NH, where he lived most of his life. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1956 and a year later he married the love of his life, Jacqueline P. Mongeon.
Armand worked for Joy Manufacturing for four years, then took a job at A & AJ Hutcheon where the employees and customers called him “Jim”. He was known for his dedication to his work and making sure his customers were taken care of. He worked there for 30 years before leaving to work as a Building Technician at Stevens High School. Armand was also an active member of the Loyal Order of Moose for 27 years.
Armand was predeceased by his wife, Jacqueline in October 1991, and his siblings Jeanette Benware, Lucille Merchant and Paul LaRoche. He is survived by his children: Karen Putnam and her husband, Scott of Claremont; Brenda LaRoche of Wilton, NH; Sheila LaRoche of Bedford, NH; and James LaRoche of Claremont. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Donat Fevre and wife Christine of Santa Barbara, CA; Travis Putnam of Claremont and Kyle Magoon of Wilton, NH.
At Armand’s request, there will be no calling hours or services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the charity of one’s choice.
The Stringer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
