Anne Ester Marek Hickey
Born November 23, 1933 daughter of Azilda Beatrice (Bea) Bluteau and Harvey C. Marek. Two brothers Roger and Alan. After battling a variety of illnesses over many years, Anne Esther Hickey decided to “go gently into that good night.” Those of us who knew her, knew that her strength and tenacity, which she passed down to her five children, had kept her alive these many years. During her 83 years of life, Anne had the opportunity to explore her love of beautiful landscapes, artwork, and delicious food with her dear friend Donna, her niece Cindy, and her three daughters: Karen, Diane, and Debra. Another great love for Anne was cooking for her two sons, Michael and Shawn, daughter-in-law Linda, and her two grandchildren, Tess and Elijah. This was no easy task considering all of them could be likened to bottomless pits. Later in life, Anne began to enjoy learning about her history on Ancestry, fine – tuning her gamesmanship in bridge, and cross – word puzzles.
The family would like to sincerely thank Lisa for the wonderful care, kind words, and support she provided during Anne’s transition into the final stage of life. The family would also like to sincerely thank the hospice program at Valley Regional Hospital for ensuring Anne “went gently into that good night” and for lovingly supporting the family during this difficult time.
