Albert C. Blake, 89, passed on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2020.
One of six children born to Arthur Blake and Emma Ryan Blake on March 31, 1931 in Wolfeboro, NH.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Henry and Arthur and a sister, Evelyn Provencher.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; brother, John; sister, Beverly Perron and her husband, Elliot; daughter, Deborah Bourgoine and her husband, Michael of Cape Neddick, Maine.
After attending Stevens High School, Al joined the US Air Force in 1949 and was honorably discharged in 1950.
On November 25th, 1950, he married Betty McGowan. This year would mark their 70th anniversary.
During their many years in Claremont, Al was a member of the Claremont Country Club, where he enjoyed playing in golf leagues with his many friends and meeting up with friends at the Elks Club.
Using his outstanding skill as a machinist, he built a very successful business, Ultra Precision Products, Inc. which he sold in 1986 and retired to their cottage on Lake Sunapee.
During retirement, he became a patented inventor and spent time as the chair of a 501C3 charitable educational foundation to help students graduate from Stevens High School.
While on the lake, he did a lot of hiking, water skiing, snow skiing, fishing, and hunting.
Al leaves two grandchildren, Derek and his wife, Barbara and Ian and his wife, Romney and three great grandchildren, Evan, Elly and Jasmine Bourgoine. His favorite things to do with his grandchildren, were to hike then ski down Tuckerman’s Ravine, skiing Jay Peak and Mount Sunapee and water ski and fish on Lake Sunapee.
Our family would like to recognize the outstanding caregivers of the Woodlawn Care Center in Newport, NH.
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, services will be held in the summer of 2021.
The Stringer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
