The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) is very pleased to announce that Southwestern Community Services, Inc. (SCS) the region’s Community Action Agency has agreed to provide transportation services in Sullivan County, which includes public transit services in Newport, Claremont, and Charlestown and volunteer driver transportation services throughout Sullivan County. “The NHDOT is committed to working with SCS through this transition with operational and management support in order to maintain these important transportation options for the region” said NHDOT Commissioner Victoria Sheehan.
The agreement with SCS is still subject to final terms and conditions but it is expected that service will resume sometime in October. NHDOT will provide additional details when they become available.
Medicaid funded trips will still be provided through Coordinated Transportation Services, Inc. (CTS), the Medicaid transportation broker for the State of New Hampshire.
SCS will provide these transportation services under contract to NHDOT and will receive Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funding, matched with local funding, for rural public transportation and transportation for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
