NEWPORT, NH-–Sullivan County is pleased to announce the reopening of its redesigned and newly paved municipal parking lot off Sunapee and Main Streets in Newport. This lot provides free public parking and features 43 regular parking spaces, two handicapped access spaces, new lighting, drainage, and landscaping which will be planted in early September. Over the next few weeks portions of the lot will be temporarily closed for final installation of lighting, landscaping, and other minor work. The parking lot also features underground wiring to accommodate electric vehicle charging stations in the future.
This project was the result of a partnership between Sullivan County, the Town of Newport, and the Economic Development Corporation of Newport (ECON).
“We want to thank United Construction, Mike Vignale of KVPartners for the design and construction management services, NHDOT, and the neighboring property owners and members of the public who may have been temporarily displaced during construction. Thank you for your patience and flexibility over the past few weeks and we hope you enjoy your new parking lot,” said the County in a written statement.
