Steve Allen Cossingham, 65, of Newport, NH, passed away peacefully on April 2nd, 2017, with his loving wife of 40 years, Deborah Cossingham (Barton) by his side.
He was born in Claremont on May 4th, 1951. The son of Clyde Allen Cossingham and Irene B Dowd. Steve graduated from Stevens High School in Claremont in 1969 and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from New England College in Henniker, NH.
Family was always of utmost importance to Steve. He adored his three grandchildren, Catherine & Makayla Cossingham and Brody Jeanson, and they love their Bampy. He was always present to support any of their activities.
Steve was President and owner of National Field Representatives. He purchased the business in September of 1989 in Windsor, VT with four employees. He relocated the business to Claremont in 1990 where it remains today, only now with 250 employees, including three locations in Claremont and one in Bradenton, FL. Steve always attributed the success of NFR to its employees whom he worked with on a daily basis.
Steve was a longtime resident of Newport. In 2012 Steve and Deb purchased a beautiful horse farm in North Newport and created Full Circle Farm. Steve’s love for horses was built during childhood at his family’s Rawhide Stables on Old Church Road in Claremont. His “40 year sabbatical” life had truly come full circle and he was able to return to horseback riding and even more importantly to him, bring the experience to others. Steve and Deb created a lesson program as well as a very personally rewarding therapeutic lesson program which had brought them both much joy.
Steve was a selfless, generous and compassionate man. He always put others first and was always there with an outstretched hand for people in need.
Steve was predeceased by his parents, his stepfather, Ed Boggis ,and son-in-law, Matt Jeanson.
Steve leaves behind his wife Deb, children Kim Jeanson-(Lorenzo) Mateo and Brad (Nickie) Cossingham both of Newport, brothers Hank (Judy) of Claremont and Ken (Dorrie) of North Andover, MA.
