Stan was born on September 21, 1948, in Springfield, VT, son of Ida G. Kinney and Merrill Ralph Kinney. He spent most of his life in Charlestown, NH.
He worked as a career machinist with many years at Joy Manufacturing/Sullivan Industries in Claremont, NH, and later at Latva Machine, Inc. in Newport, NH, and most recently at Costa Precision Manufacturing in Claremont, NH.
Stanley found his greatest enjoyment spending time with his family and friends. He treasured gatherings with his children, grandchildren, relatives and friends. Those who didn’t know him would find him to be a quiet soul. Those privileged to have gotten to know Stan and appreciate his welcoming manner found him to be a true friend, a kind person, and an amazing father and grandfather. He cared deeply for people who cared back.
A devoted Patriots fan, he could always be found watching football on Sunday with family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing horseshoes with “the regulars” on Monday nights and was always up for a game of Texas Hold’em. He was also a familiar face at the local club enjoying a frosty and perhaps a rip ticket or two. What he treasured most, however, was the friendly comrades he saw on a regular basis.
Survivors include his sister, Sharon Rowe and her husband Rene of Charlestown; son Bruce Kinney and his wife Lisa (Buffum) Kinney of Charlestown; his daughter Julie Tewksbury and her husband Gregg of Keene; his daughter June Sweetsir and her companion Steve Walker of Charlestown; and who was thought of like his daughter Alyssa Parkhurst and her companion Randy Rhoades of Alstead; three grandchildren, Blake Pearson, Jenna Pearson, and Olivia Kinney; and many cousins and nieces and nephews. Stan was predeceased by his parents and brother, Herbert “Skip” Kinney.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, February 2nd, from 5-7 pm at the Charlestown Memorial Chapel. A service will also be held at the Chapel on Saturday morning February 3rd at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to Home Hospice Healthcare and Community Services (HCS) at Marlboro Street, Keene, NH 03431.
