Lorraine D. Tewksbury, 86, of Benjamin Place in Claremont, NH, passed away on February 23, 2019, at Mount Ascutney Hospital in Windsor, VT.
She was a native of Claremont, NH, born on September 25, 1932, to Henry and Cora (Bourgoine) Bonneville.
She was a graduate of St. Mary High School’s class of 1950 and was married to Eugene Tewksbury on November 3, 1951.
Lorraine was a waitress before entering a career in the dry-cleaning business, working for One Hour Martinizing, Kleen Laundry and retiring from Veteran’s Cleaners.
She enjoyed making crafts of all types, bingo, camping and traveling with Gene in the motorhome to the local fairs and Florida. Her fondest times were found with her family at their camp on Lake Champlain.
She had been a member of the Claremont Senior Center, American Legion Auxiliary and the New Hampshire Antique Tractor Club serving as the Secretary for many years.
She was predeceased by her husband Gene in 2005; her parents and her brother Clifford Bonneville.
She is survived by her children Marilyn Baker of Claremont; Alan Tewksbury and his wife Donna of Cornish; Mark Tewksbury and his wife Brenda of Cornish; David Tewksbury and his wife Anna of Springfield, VT, and Cora Farnsworth and her husband Ross of Cornish. She leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren as well as former son-in-law, William Baker.
The family would like to extend our deepest thanks to the staff at the Mount Ascutney Hospital who provided extraordinary care and support to Lorraine and her family.
Visiting hours will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont on Friday, March 1st from 4-7 PM.
A funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, March 2nd at 11:00 followed by the burial in St. Mary Cemetery. A reception will be held at the American Legion on Broad Street.
