John “Jack” Silver, 79, died Sunday March 19, 2017, at his home in Charlestown, NH, with his wife and daughter, Nikki at his side.
John was born on March 6, 1938 at the Claremont General Hospital, the son of Eldon and Thelma (Hoskison) Silver.
Although John never graduated high school, he was very proud of the fact he went back to school in his 60’s and earned his diploma.
John worked at Cone Blanchard Machine Company in Windsor, VT, until its closing. He worked as a boiler operator at Dorr Woolen Mill in Newport before becoming disabled with a back injury.
John served in the United States Navy for two years.
He was well known and loved for his story telling of his life growing up and his sense of humor. His greatest joy in life was his family especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved his family with all his heart. He will be greatly missed by all.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Robert, his daughters, Bonnie and Ginny Lynn and son, Mark.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan; his daughters, Nicole Levingston and husband, Hal of Claremont, Kimberly Knoch and husband, Tim of O’Fallon Illinois, Rebecca Colby and husband, Michael of England, and Gwen Martin of Massachusetts; his sons, Michael Silver and wife, Alesia of Claremont and Christian Silver of Charlestown; his sister, Sandy Washburn and husband, Scott of Charlestown; his brother, Tom Silver of Massachusetts. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
As per John’s wishes he will be cremated and there will be no calling hours, but there will be a celebration of his life to be held Saturday, July 15th. The time and place will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in John’s name to Lake Sunapee Visiting Nurse and Hospice in New London, NH
