Janet M. (Hayes) Coulombe, 74, of Claremont, NH, fought with dignity and strength through her long-time illnesses and succumbed to them on November 17, 2017, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center with her husband and daughters by her side.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Claremont, NH, born on June 24, 1943, the daughter of Bernard and Kathleen (Atkins) Hayes. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School.
Janet had worked for Sylvania right after high school, was a teacher’s assistant for Bluff School and had retired from Claremont Savings Bank after 30 years of service.
Ken and Janet created many memories, including travel to beaches, especially Hampton Beach, weekend getaways to Burlington, VT, and several other places. They enjoyed dancing, backyard barbeques and entertaining. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her many friends and family.
The family includes her high school sweetheart and husband, Kenneth Coulombe whom she married on April 4, 1964; two daughters, Robyn Bennett and her children, Elizabeth and Aaron of Goshen, NH, and Jodi Coombs and her husband, Frank and their children, Vaughn and Lennox of Tolland, CT; her brother, Larry Hayes and his wife, Jyothi of MA, her sister, Kathy Thomas and her husband, Mike of TX, brother, Michael Hayes of TX and brother, Kevin Hayes and his wife, Anne of AK; sister-in-law, Linda L. Patch; several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins; lifelong friend, Marie Tremblay, along with many special neighbors and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Kenneth Hayes.
Visiting hours will be held at Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Tuesday evening, November 21st from 5 to 7 PM. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary Church on Wednesday morning, November 22nd at 11 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
