The family of Eric John Sumner announce with great sadness his sudden passing on Saturday evening, December 29, 2018, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center from injuries sustained following a tragic accident, just 16 days before his 51st birthday.
Eric was born on January 14, 1968, in Claremont, NH, to John and Carol Sumner. He graduated from Stevens High School in 1986 and left for Fort Lauderdale, FL, to pursue his musical dream. From Florida he moved on to Los Angeles, CA, to continue his musical career. He returned to New Hampshire in 1999 and enrolled at the New Hampshire Vocational College to study Computer Science and Business Management.
Following several surgeries on his neck and spine with long recovery periods of physical and occupational therapy, he learned to walk and play the drums again. Eric started “Sumner Drum Guns LLC.” in Cornish Center, NH, in 2010 until present showcasing his amazing drumming talent. Music, family, friends and spreading love was his life!
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Charles and Beatrice (Senecal) Sumner and Joseph and Myrtle (Barron) Mulroy.
Survivors include his mother, Carol Mulroy Morton of Ascutney, VT; his father, John Charles Sumner of Cornish, NH; brothers, Chad Sumner of Claremont, NH, Jarrod Suhesky of Greenland, NH and Brendon Suhesky of New London, NH along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends around the world.
A memorial service will be held at Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Saturday, January 12th at 2 PM with Priscilla Hull officiating. A celebration of Eric’s life will follow at the American Legion, 119 Broad Street in Claremont.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Eric’s memory to the Stevens High School Band Program, Attn: Pat Barry, 175 Broad Street, Claremont, NH 03743.
