On Sunday July 2, at approximately 1400 hours, Troopers from New Hampshire State Police – Troop C, responded to Route 12 in the Town of Charlestown for a two-vehicle crash.
The investigation revealed that a silver, 2004 Chrysler Town and Country van operated by Nellie Ellen Stark, 66, Charlestown, NH, was traveling northbound on Route 12 in the area of the Morningside Flight Park, when it rear-ended a 2008 Chevrolet Aveo operated by Colt Carter, 33, Norwich, VT, that was momentarily stopped in the northbound lane yielding to traffic, prior to turning onto Ox Brook Road. The Chrysler Town and Country continued traveling off of the roadway where it came to final rest in the grassy shoulder, while the Chevrolet Aveo came to final rest in the center of the roadway.
As a result of the collision, both operators sustained minor injuries. The rear passenger of the Chevrolet Aveo, Carrie Carter, 32, Norwich, VT, was extracted by members of the Charlestown Fire Department and airlifted to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center via DHART where she remains in serious, but stable condition.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
